The Northern Transvaal Blue Bulls were founded in 1937, and since the Currie Cup became an annual event in 1968, have been South Africa's most successful team, winning it 13 times. "Northerns" as they are known play in the famous Loftus Versfeld ground in Pretoria, the capital of SA, and it seats 51,000. They last won the Currie Cup in 1998, beating enemies Western Province 24-20. The Blue Bulls have beaten all the major touring teams - The All Blacks, Wallabies, Lions, and France - and their most famous players are Joost Van Der Westhuizen, Frik Du Preez, Naas Botha, and Danie Craven.
